Up and coming Anthracite fighters Pat Paulo, Nat Hasara, Billy Newton, Jeremiah Gaffney are slated to fight at the Lifestyle Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio. The matchups are as follows:
Nat Hasara wins his MMA debut via unanimous decision
Nat Hasara won a unanimous decision in his three round bout against Sean Leffler on Saturday, November 1st. Nat used powerful strikes and excellent takedown defenses to secure the win, almost stopping his opponent on several occasions.

Shane Ott has been critically injured in a motorcycle accident
Anthracite teammate and friend Shane Ott was in a motorcycle accident Saturday evening. Shane is recovering in a Philadelphia hospital. Our hearts and wishes go out to Shane and his family.

Two Anthracite fighters to compete in Youngstown, OH this Saturday, Nov. 1
Amateur fighters Pat Paulo(0-0-1), Nat Hasara(0-0-0) are slated to fight this weekend in the 1st and 10th bouts of the night, respectively. Pat Paulo will face off against Tim Boda in a 145 pound 3 round matchup. Nat Hasara will be making his MMA debut against Justin Flannery. Jeremiah Gaffney's fight has been cancelled.
Jeremiah Gaffney takes it to 3-0 while Chan Williams earns a submission victory in his MMA debut at Asylum Fight League's Abyss.
In the fourth bout of the night, Anthracite Combat Club's Chan "Silky" Williams was victorious in his MMA debut over Keith Knudson with a third round submission. After two rounds of high paced action and exchanges, chan secured a rear naked choke, forcing his opponent to tap. Shortly after, Jeremiah Gaffney stepped into the cage against Chris Venneri. After nearly securing an submission at the end of round 1. The Yetti broke slammed his opponent into the cage and breaking it! Repairs were quickly made and Jeremiah continued with an onslaught of unanswered punches causing the referee Wagner to stop the fight at 1:24 of round 2.
Yetti makes a run at three in a row!
Sept. 27, 2008. Tonight at the Club Abyss in NJ, Jeremiah "Yetti" Gaffney makes his third appearance in the cage. The Yetti will face off with Rhino Fight Team member Chris Venneri. Yetti has ripped off two victories in the past month and plans on continuing his winning ways.
Two more first timers for Anthracite CC make the MMA debut tonight. The Asylum Fight League has turned out to be a first class event and a great place to gain experience.
ACC fighter Jim "Flex" Gerner squares off against Francis Alfonso in the eleventh scheduled fight of the night.
ACC fighter Chan "Silky" Williams will face Jersey Shore MMA fighter Keith Kundsen in the last fight of the night for ACC.
We wish them luck. But we all know that luck will have nothing to do with it.
Pat Paulo makes MMA debut!
On Sept 21, 2008 Pat Paulo made his MMA debut in Somerdale NJ. Pat had a hard three round fight that ended in a draw. Pat displayed superior ground control and takedowns during the fight and ended in a dominant position.
Yetti Wins At Barley House Brawls!
On Sept. 11, 2008 Jeremiah "Yetti" Gaffney made his second appearance in the cage in Akron Ohio. After making a very sucessful MMA debute last month and winning in 55 sec. into the first round by ground and pound, the Yetti continued his winning ways. Jeremiah won his second match by opening the fight with a series of leg kicks which then led to a dominating throw. The Yetti then controled the action on the ground and secured back control where he finished the fight by ground and pound. The fight was stopped 1:55 into the first.
In keeping with his busy schedule Jeremiah will compete on Sept. 27 on the Asylum Fight League card in NJ.
Next Generation of Anthracite Fighters.
On Sept. 21, 2008 Pat Paulo will make his MMA debute at 139lbs. Pat has been working very hard and earned his chance to fight for Anthracite CC. We all look forward to Pat's big day.
In addition to Pat's debute. Several other Antracite first timers will also make their MMA debutes. On Sept. 27, 2008 Asylum Fight League will hold another card featuring several Anthracite CC fighters. Chan "Silky" Williams will compete at 170lbs. Chan is another hard worker and will be very successful in our sport. On the same card Jim "Flex" Gerner makes his long awaited debute at 175lbs. Jeremiah "Yetti" Gaffney will make his third appearance in the cage. At 2-0 The Yetti continues to progress and is becoming a complete fighter. Cody Vidal is a possibility for this card also.
Jonathan Murphy and Jim Bova to compete in EliteXC on May 31st - LIVE on CBS and SHOWTIME
Jonathan Murphy will be taking on undefeated Brett Rogers in the first ever MMA event to be
televiised live on Primetime television. The fight will be aired on CBS Saturday Night fights. Jim Bova will be competing in a
preliminary bout to be aired live on Showtime. He will face off against Chris Liguori. For details, visit www.elitexc.com.

Diego Jimenez flies to Costa Rica for MMA reality show - Gran Torneo MMA 2008

Ott dominates the majority of Round 1, but succumbs to a Head & Arm Choke
Shane Ott managed to take down the Olympic wrestler Antoine Jaoude in the beginning of the fight. After passing Jaoude's guard and almost securing a Kimura from the side mount, Ott took the back of Jauode. Unable to secure his hooks in Jauode's legs, Ott lost his position and the fighters were back on their feet. Ott landed a solid punch on Jauode while trying to defend Jaoude's takedown. Ott was taken down and immediately placed in a head and arm choke. The match was stopped as Ott, unable to defend the attack, lost consciousness.
Ott to fight tonight in the IFL Grand Prix
The weigh-ins are complete and the bout order is set for tonight's IFL Grand Prix. Shane weighed in one half pound under the 265 pound weight class. His opponent, Antoine Jaoude, tipped the scale at 248 pounds. The sixth bout, on a ten bout card, well determine which fighter advances to the finals. We all wish Shane luck! Busy Weekend Ends With Nothing But Good!
On Friday June 8, 2007 myself and student Vince McDonald attended the Royler Gracie workshop in Harrisburg. The workshop was held at Greg Anderson's RGDA team affiliate school. A special thanks to Greg for his hospitality. It goes without saying that the instruction was top notch. Wow what can I say! Three Gracie Jiu-JItsu black belts teaching and one of them Royler Gracie. Royer, David Adiv, and Rosendo Diaz. Thank you. Our students will continue to benefit from your impeckable teachings.

Oct. 25 Update: I am quickly learning the in the world of MMA nothing is written in stone. Well, except your legacy. ACC is currently in the process of signing Shane Ott for competitive action in the IFL's 2007 World Grand Prix. Negotiations are leading to a first round match up with IFL veteran and former Olympian Antoine Jaoude. I all works out Shane and I will be in Chicago on 11/3/07 for a run at the IFL Superheavy weight Grand Prix Champion belt. This event will be televised live from the Sears Centre in Chicago IL.
With additional news this past weekend had Shane, Jim, and Diego taking a trip to New York for the IFL open tryouts. Upon arrival Shane was advised that due to his prior appearances in the IFL there was no need to try out. For the remainder of the day Shane assisted the staff with ref. duties. With over twenty 155lb athletes Jim and Diego had their work cut out for them. As the day progressed Jim and Diego survived the prelim cuts and made it to the MMA portion of the try outs. Jim was the first to fight and secured a position in the national try outs by winning his match up with a ref. stoppage in the second round. Diego lost a hard found but close decision to Binky Jones. The second round ended with Diego applying an extremly extended arm bar.
The reported Mexico fight has now been pushed back into Jan. of 2008. A replacement fight is scheduled for the first weekend of Dec. The event will be held in Lincroft NJ. Jim, Diego, and Shane are slated to fight.

Bova Continues Win Streak!
On Saturday June 9, 2007 Anthracite's lightweight Jim Bova continues his winning ways by submitting Team Rhino fighter Steve DeAngelis 36 seconds into the second round. After a late first round onslaught of elbows from the top mounted position Jim continued his control of the fight into the second round by securing a triangle/armbar for the win. Congrats to Jim and his teamates who worked so hard to help him prepare. Next for Anthracite will be Shane Ott who fights on the IFL card in Vagas on June 16.

On Friday, April 27, Anthracite Combat Club's Jonathan Murphy lost a hard fought decision to Chase Gormley in King of the Cage, Sinister. The fight took place at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Watch this fight on Pay Per View on May 18.
The following night, team members Shane Ott and Jim Bova battled opponents in the Extreme Combat Challenge in Cincinnatti, OH. Shane faced off against the respected veteran Kerry Schall in a professional heavyweight matchup, featured as the main event of the night. Shane quickly took down Schall and began an onslaught of elbows from the half guard. Shane knocked out his opponent, bringing the fight to an end at 1:23 into round one. Jim also controlled the entirety of his fight against James Hill-Harris. The fight was brought to an end at 2:37 into round two. when Hill-Harris submitted to an arm-bar.
