The Citizen's Fire Company was packed Saturday night as local boxers Joe Mazzuca and Chip Evans set their sights on advancement to the PA Golden Gloves Regional Championships.

Local boxer and Pottsville Area High School student Chip Evans fought his way to a three round victory at PA Golden Gloves Regionals. Chip dominated all three rounds of the fight. In round three, Chip dropped his opponent to a knee with a solid left hook up top. Congratulations to Chip on a high paced and well executed fight.

Hometown favorite Joe Mazzuca fought a three round barn burner in the 178 pound Open Class division against Tony Mitchell from King's Gym. In a bout filled with sweat and heart, Joe came up short of a victory against the taller Mitchell.

Both Chip Evans and Joe Mazzuca box out of the Pottsville Golden Gloves Center owned and operated by Joe Mazzuca senior. Congratulations to the fighters and coaches on a job well done.
